सिंगापुरमा दुई विश्वधनाढ्यको भेट : विनोद चौधरी र बिल गेट्सबीच गम्भीर संवाद

विराटनगर– एकजना नेपाली उद्यमी, अर्का विश्वविख्यात प्रविधिविद्। एउटै मंच, एउटै उद्देश्य—समाज परिवर्तन। सिंगापुरमा सम्पन्न ‘फिलान्थ्रपी एशिया एलायन्स–२०२५’ सम्मेलनको यही दृश्यले धेरैको ध्यान तान्यो, जब चौधरी ग्रुपका अध्यक्ष तथा सांसद विनोद चौधरी र माइक्रोसफ्टका सह–संस्थापक बिल गेट्सबीच अन्तरंग भेटवार्ता भयो।

भेटमा दुवै धनी व्यक्तित्वले नेपालका स्वास्थ्य सेवा प्रणाली र रोजगारी सृजनाको प्रमुख चुनौतीबारे गम्भीर छलफल गरे। चौधरीले विशेषगरी सन् २०७२ को भूकम्पदेखि कोभिड–१९ महामारीसम्मका कठिन घडीमा गेट्स फाउन्डेसनले देखाएको साथ र साझेदारीका लागि धन्यवाद ज्ञापन गरे। ‘बलियो नेपाल’ अभियानजस्ता सामाजिक पहलमा सहकार्य विस्तार गर्ने विषयमा पनि छलफल भएको जानकारी चौधरीले सामाजिक सञ्जालमार्फत दिएका छन्।

चौधरी फाउन्डेसनले भूकम्पपछिको उद्धार र राहतदेखि लिएर कोभिड संकटमा अक्सिजन प्लान्ट, आईसीयू स्थापना र सुरक्षासामग्री वितरणजस्ता कार्यमार्फत सरकारको प्रयासमा उल्लेखनीय टेवा पुर्याएको थियो। बिल एण्ड मेलिन्डा गेट्स फाउन्डेसनको अनुभवका आधारमा नेपालमा समेत स्वास्थ्य र रोजगारीका सफल कार्यक्रमहरू कार्यान्वयन गर्न सकिने सम्भावनाबारे छलफल गरिएको चौधरीको भनाइ छ।

सिंगापुरमा आयोजित सम्मेलनमा गेट्स फाउन्डेसनका अध्यक्ष बिल गेट्स, विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन प्रमुख डा. टेड्रोस अधानोम गेब्रेयसस, सिंगापुरका राष्ट्रपति थरमन शनमुगरत्नम, इन्डोनेसियाका मानव विकास तथा सांस्कृतिक मामिलाका समन्वय मन्त्री प्रतिक्नो, डब्लुएचओका प्रमुख वैज्ञानिक सर जेरेमी फरार र संयुक्त राष्ट्र विकास कार्यक्रम (यूएनडीपी) की सहायक महासचिव सुसान ब्राउन लगायत विश्वका उच्चस्तरीय नेताहरूले दिगो विकास र सामाजिक न्यायका लागि परोपकारको भूमिकामाथि जोड दिएका थिए। सम्मेलनमा नेपालबाट उद्यमी, राजनीतिकर्मी एवं समाजसेवी चौधरीको उपस्थिति नेपालको प्रतिनिधित्व मात्र नभइ सामाजिक उत्तरदायित्वप्रति देखाएको लगावको परिचायकसमेत बन्यो।

फिलान्थ्रपी एशिया एलायन्स सम्मेलनले एशिया महादेशमा परोपकारी संस्थाहरूबीच सहकार्यको नयाँ सम्भावनाको ढोका खोलेको छ—जहाँ मानवता, समानता र सामाजिक उत्तरदायित्व साझा उद्देश्य बनेका छन्। नेपालका लागि पनि यो एउटा अवसर हो—जहाँ निजी क्षेत्रको अनुभव र अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय फाउन्डेसनको क्षमता मिलेर गम्भीर परिवर्तन सम्भव बन्न सक्छ।

In Singapore, Two Billionaires Meet : Serious Dialogue Between Binod Chaudhary and Bill Gates

Biratnagar – One is a Nepali entrepreneur, the other a world-renowned tech visionary. One common platform, one shared goal—social transformation. This was the striking moment at the Philanthropy Asia Alliance 2025 conference in Singapore, where CG Group Chairman and Member of Parliament Binod Chaudhary held an intimate meeting with Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates.

During the meeting, the two wealthy figures engaged in a serious discussion about Nepal’s major challenges in healthcare and employment. Chaudhary expressed gratitude to the Gates Foundation for its partnership and support during Nepal’s critical moments—from the devastating 2015 earthquake to the COVID-19 pandemic. He further shared that they discussed the expansion of collaborative initiatives such as the 'Strong Nepal' campaign in the social sector.

Through the Chaudhary Foundation, CG had significantly contributed to the government’s efforts during the earthquake recovery and the pandemic—building nearly 3,000 temporary earthquake-resistant shelters, reconstructing schools, and distributing food and drinking water. During the COVID crisis, the foundation supported the health system by setting up ICUs and oxygen plants at Bir Hospital, as well as in Dhangadhi and Surkhet. Oxygen concentrators, PPE, PCR test kits, and N-95 masks were distributed across all seven provinces.

Chaudhary stated that they explored the possibility of implementing successful healthcare and employment programs—already operating in other countries through the Gates Foundation—within Nepal, tailored to local needs.

The Singapore conference featured prominent global leaders, including Gates Foundation chair Bill Gates, WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Muhadjir Effendy, WHO Chief Scientist Sir Jeremy Farrar, and UNDP Assistant Secretary-General Susan Brown. Their collective message emphasized the critical role of philanthropy in advancing sustainable development and social justice.

Binod Chaudhary's participation from Nepal as an entrepreneur, politician, and social advocate symbolized not only national representation but also a strong commitment to social responsibility.

The Philanthropy Asia Alliance conference has opened new doors for cooperation among philanthropic organizations across Asia—with shared values of humanity, equity, and accountability at its core. For Nepal, this presents a valuable opportunity—where the synergy between private sector expertise and global foundations can drive meaningful and transformative change.
